Pop-up illustrative book, depicting the exciting Punjabi culture!

Adding excitement and culture into coffee table books, and educating people about the richness of the Punjabi culture.

The people of the Punjabi culture- Punjabi’s, have unmatchable amounts of energy and compassion that they never hesitate to share with the rest of the world.

Every time you meet a Punjabi, you are enveloped in a cheerful, loud, and colourful environment; this pop-up book provides you with that experience, anytime and anywhere in the world!

The mere excitement one feels while reading through a pop-up book is the reason why I chose to portray the Punjabi culture through this method of publication.

Ideation and execution

First, I researched about the different aspects of the Punjabi culture.

Upon deciding on the concept of a pop-up book, I learned pop-up mechanisms from scratch.

Target audience

Upper middle class/ upper class people. Mainly Punjabi people would be attracted to this book since Punjabi’s take a lot of pride in their culture. People from other ethnicities would also be very interested in the pop-up aspect, and hence learn more about the Punjabi culture. This book attracts children.

Learnings

The most challenging aspect of this project was learning the pop-up folds and practising each spread in rough. Understanding measurments and angles was crucial for the functioning of pop-ups. I learned to understand the thickness of paper for different functions of pop-ups.
